Privacy Policy and Terms of Use – Electronic Quantitative Research

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy and Terms of Use aims to inform, in a clear and transparent manner, university students participating in Brazil and Portugal about the processing of their personal data during their participation in this quantitative research conducted via an electronic platform.

The purpose of this research is to investigate the quality of consent provided by users of websites and applications regarding their understanding of terms of use and privacy policies. Additionally, answers will be collected about user vulnerabilities when using apps and websites, as well as scams and online threats.

The processing of personal data will be based on explicit consent from the data subject (art. 7º, I of LGPD; art. 6º, 1, a) of GDPR) and, if applicable, for the legitimate academic/scientific interest.

2. Collection of Personal Data

The following data will be collected:

• Age
• Responses provided in the questionnaires applied during the research

The data collection will occur exclusively when the participant accesses and fills out the online research form. Consent will be obtained explicitly, through a specific field at the beginning of the questionnaire, where participants must express their agreement with the terms described here before proceeding.

3. Use and Processing of Data

The personal data collected will be used exclusively for academic and scientific purposes, including: Conducting statistical analyses Generating research reports Academic dissemination in congresses and publications (always anonymized) Data sharing, if necessary, will only occur with: Regulatory bodies, if legally requested Academic partners involved and responsible for the research, under confidentiality agreements Scientific publishing platforms, including articles or books, ensuring participant anonymity Under no circumstances will data be sold or used for commercial purposes.

4. Storage and Security

Data will be stored on secured servers located in the US, Brazil, the European Union, or countries offering data protection levels compatible with LGPD and GDPR regulations. If international data transfers occur, appropriate safeguards will be adopted as required by law.

The security measures implemented include:

• Encryption of stored data
• Restricted access control to authorized research staff
• Secure backup procedures and monitoring

Collected personal data will only be retained for the time necessary to achieve the research objectives and meet legal/institutional requirements. Afterward, the data will be securely deleted through permanent erasure of files and records.

5. Data Subject Rights

Participants from Brazil and Portugal are guaranteed all rights under LGPD and GDPR, including:

• Access: Request confirmation and access to processed personal data
• Correction: Rectify incomplete, inaccurate, or outdated personal data
• Deletion: Request the deletion of personal data, except for cases where legal retention applies

6. Transparency and Updates

This Privacy Policy will be periodically revised and updated to reflect any legal or procedural changes. The updated version will be made available on the research platform and significant changes will be communicated to participants via email.

7. Terms of Use for the Platform

Participants agree to:

• Provide truthful and complete information during the research
• Use the platform exclusively for participation in the study
• Not attempt to access, modify, or share unauthorized research data or data from other users
• Fraudulent, improper, or offensive use of the platform and its information is prohibited.
